At Turris, we design and manufacture open-source routers. We build our own hardware and develop the software for it. We’re now looking for a new team member to help us with this—especially with the hardware side of things ;-)

What we expect:

• Leading the development of Turris routers and overseeing prototype production

◦ We have colleagues handling the board design, but we need to coordinate all related aspects

• Designing product manufacturing processes—bill of materials, production manuals, etc.

• Responsibility for production itself

◦ Responsibility for inventory of materials and finished products

◦ Responsibility for production processes and procedures

◦ Meeting deadlines and staying within budget

◦ Quality control of finished products

• Communicating with B2B customers

◦ Technical solutions for customized production

◦ Planning custom production

• Collaborating to secure necessary certifications (CE, FCC, RoHS, etc.),

• Team leadership

What we welcome:

• Knowledge of Linux and the open-source ecosystem in general

• Education in electrical engineering

• Experience with software development

• Git, Markdown, GitLab

The job involves occasional travel to Lanškroun, where the actual production takes place. You’ll be provided with a company van for this (sometimes you’ll need to haul something back, too ;-)).

Why might you like working with us?

We have people working in different time zones, even though we’re all in the Czech Republic. It doesn’t matter if you’re an early bird or prefer to sleep in—our work hours are flexible. We manufacture the entire device—from board design and prototypes to final mass production and software updates for devices more than ten years old.

Production takes place in the Czech Republic, and you’ll be right in the thick of it. You’ll have a great opportunity to shape the next generation of our hardware. How you set up production and the processes involved is entirely up to you. Ultimately, the goal is for production to run smoothly, not for Excel spreadsheets to be passed around (though we do have a few of those, and we’d love to get rid of them).
